Our planet is covered in 70% water, and it has always been easy to think that we have plenty of water. But the freshwater we use to drink, wash ourselves in, water plants and so much more only covers 3% of the 70% water we have in this world. But there is more, two-thirds of that freshwater is frozen glaciers so it can´t be used, and that leaves us with only 1% of freshwater.

That 1% of water is clearly not enough for the whole world. As a result of that 1.1 billion people in this world do not have access to fresh water, plus the 2.7 billion people that doesn´t have fresh water in one or more months in a year. The organization “world wild life” wrote in an article that two million people die every year due to sanitary reasons. They can´t clean themselves, as a result of no cleaning they get diseases, the majority of those 2 million are children.

Many of the worlds water systems are drying up such ass rivers, aquifires and lakes, over 50% of the wetland in the world have disappeared.  And the water system that keep the ecosystem is going down. 

All humans need to drink water to live. Other purpose of water is to do dishes, flush the toilet, clean ourselves, cook food and many other things. But water is also used in a lot of industries for agriculture.

I think that we as individuals need to stop thinking about ourselves and think about those billions of people that does not have clean freshwater. We can for example when we shower turn of the water while putting in shampoo. And a lot of people shower every day and that is unnecessary to do.  We also need to be more aware to when and how much water we use, think about the people that doesn´t have anything.
