Kurt Donald Cobain was the lead singer, songwriter and guitarist of the Seattle rock band Nirvana.
* Born february 20th, 1967 in Aberdeen, Washington, USA
* Died April 5th, 1994 from suicide.
He was a natural music-talent and was singing songs like beatles' 'hey jude' at the age of 2 according to his aunt Mari.
At the age of seven, Cobian was gived Rithalin for attention-deficit hyperactivety disorder. Some people think that's the reason he went on heroin as an adult.
Cobian's life turned upside down at the age of eight when his parents divorced in 1975. The first poem he ever wrote was:
"I hate Mom. I hate Dad. Dad hates Mom. Mom hates Dad. It simply makes you want to be so sad. Mom sucks. Dad sucks."
He wrote it on the wall in 1976 after his parents divorce.
Cobain received his first guitar from his uncle at age 14, choosing it over a bicycle. He tried to form bands with friends, but in high school he found that none of his friends had any particular musical talent. Later in high school he met Novoselic. Novoselic finally agreed to join Cobain, forming the beginnings of Nirvana.
They got a drummer, Chad Channing, and they recorded their first album Bleach, released in 1989. Cobain wanted a new drummer, as he was not satisfied with Channing's style, and replaced him with Dave Grohl. Then they recorded their second, and most successful album Nervermind.
Some well-known Cobain songs are:
* "Smells Like Teen Spirit"
* "About a Girl"
* "Come as You Are"
* "In Bloom"
* "Heart-Shaped Box"
* "All Apologies"
* and the controversial "Rape Me".
Courtney Love first saw Cobain preform in 1988. Around the time of Nirvana's 1992 performance on Saturday Night Live, Love discovered that she was pregnant with Cobain's child. Monday, February 24, 1992, Cobain married Love on Waikiki Beach, Hawaii.
Throughout most of his life, Cobain battled depression, chronic bronchitis, and intense physical pain due to an undiagnosed chronic stomach condition. Cobian spent years trying to find the source of the pain in his stomach. None of the doctors he consulted could pinpoint the specific cause. Feeling that he had been let down by the medical science, Cobain decided to self-medicate with heroin. Cobain's heroin addiction increased further as the years progressed. He made his first attempt at rehab in early 1992. He stayed clean until after their Australian tour.
Prior to a preformance at the New Music Seminar in New York City in July of 1993, Cobain suffered a heroin overdose.
Cobain's final weeks
On March 4 Love awoke to find that Cobain had overdosed on a combination of champagne and rohypnol. He was immeadiatley rushed to the hospital. Love later insited publicly that the incident was Cobain's first suicide attempt.
On March 18, Courtney called the police to tell them that Cobain was suicidal and had locked himself in a room with a gun.
On April 8, 1994, Cobain's body was discovered in the spare room above the garage at his Lake Washington home by Veca Electric employee Gary Smith. Smith found what he thought might be a suicide note with a pen stuck through it beneath an overturned flowerpot. A shotgun, purchased for Cobain by Dylan Carlson, was found at Cobain's side. An autopsy report later concluded Cobain's death as a result of a "self-inflicted shotgun wound to the head."
The report estimates Cobain to have died on April 5, 1994.
