Bowling for Columbine is telling us how easy there is to get hold on weapons in USA and how much violence they have compeare to others countries. Michael Moore is asking why USA has so much violence and what can be done to reduce the crime.

The film starts with Michael is in a bank to open a bank account, and when he has filled out a healthcertification he got a rifle. The ironi here is that he got a rifle from a bank. Everybody knows that they are exposed for bank robbery.

The film shows us that some people are joining illegal groups like the NRA –national rifle assosiation and they think that they have all the right to protect themselves by taking the laws in their own hands. Their motto is “defend your self “. We see that theese people have normal jobs, but they don’t trust the system in USA.

We also see the tragedy of the Columbine high school, when two students are starting shooting inside the school and “terrorising” the students. One girl told that she saw a girl was beeing shot in her head right before her eyes and one boy was killed just because he was black. The result of this tragedy was that 12 students and 1 teacher were killed and it ends with that they are killing themselves.

Not to mention that two boys were shot at in a shopping center and one of the boys were paralised and one six year old boy who are shooting out of the window with his uncles gun.

Michael is showing how easy there is to be exposed for theese weapons and how important there is to have all kind of weapons locked up inside in a safe place so at least the children are not getting hold of the weapons.

We also have the gangs who are a big problem in USA and they are buying stolen weapons on the street. Drug is also a big problem and this is also leading to violence and crime. The prisons are constantly filled up with criminal people but even so the crime is not reducing.

People in USA is more sceptic to other people, they do not trust anybody and they have more violence in their news simirarly with Canada. However Canada is also watching violence movies, and has people from other countries. But they do not have theese problems, Michael is making a test in Canada where he is wandering around to different houses and sees if they have locked theires doors. He is beeing very surprised when he is finding out that they do not lock their doors.

It seems that the people in the USA is very pride and nationality to their Country and think that the answer to the problem is to solving the problems with guns, when in fact that this could hurt them more than helping them.

To get back to the point I think that Michael is showing how vulnerable a society could be just because that some unstabil people who do not like the way the government are ruling the country as a result of this they take the laws in their own hands by detonating a bomb near a building so many innocent people are killed.

By the way it was over 11000 killings with guns in the USA in one year and similarly to Canada who had just about 150 killings in the same year.

USA do not have a good health care system for the poor people, if you can not afford an health security you are in big trubble that day you are going to the hospital or similar. They also do not have a good system for unemployed people like we have in Norway, if you do not have a job in USA you want get any money. Michael is showing us how much the mother to the six year old boy who was shooting, had to work and how lang she had to travelling each day just to manage. And even so she did not get good paid, so she was struggeling to manage.

In the end we also saw that many Afro-american got the blame for things they did not do, forexample a mother said that an Afro-american had stolen her car with her two children inside but the truth was that she had killed her own children and wanted to blame an innocent man.

In all I think Michael Moore had made a very good film who hopefully makes people think about what they are doing.
