I’m going to talk about the state called Florida, also known as The Sunshine State. Florida is one of the 50 states in USA. The reason I picked this state was because even though it is quite known I really like the different theme parks and tourist attractions. If I could choose to travel to one of the states it would have been Florida.

Related Information:

The capital of Florida is Tallahassee. Even though it’s the capital, it’s not the largest city in the state. The largest is Jacksonville.

The population in Florida is over 18 million. That makes Florida the 4th most populated state in the US, after California, Texas and New York. The biggest metropolises in Florida are Miami, Jacksonville and Tampa.

The location of Florida is in the South-east of USA, next to the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico. Florida is the most southern of the 50 states, excluding Hawaii. Florida’s placement, near the equator means that the weather is really nice most of the year.

But there are also many hurricanes crossing the state.

Major cities:

If you ever find yourself in Miami, there are several attractions and theme parks you can visit. Examples are the Miami Zoo or the seaquarium. South Beach is one of the Miami hot spots. From shopping to partying, this area of Miami Beach is well known for being a trendy place.

Whether it’s a trip for families, single travelers or friends, you’ll find many things to do in Orlando. If you’re going to visit Orlando, it is said that there are so many different parks and things to do, that you’ll run out of days before you’ll run out of attractions. Walt Disney World holds four theme parks and two waterparks. It is huge, at the size of the City of Boston.

Pictures:

Here are some photos of various cities and theme parks in Florida. These are of both Orlando and Miami, and here is the famous Disney World and the Universal Studios.

Everglades:

The everglades are wetlands that are located in the south part of Florida. It has been found tracks of humans living there over 15000 years ago. Two tribes have been known to live there, but they both got declined after the Spanish came to Florida.

It was suggested to drain the Everglades in the mid 18th century, but this wasn’t attempted until 40 years later. Later canals were built, leading the water to nearby cities. Today nearly half of the Everglades has been turned into urban areas.
