There once was a wise old man, whom was visited by a young man coming right from school. As curious as he was, he asked him if he had any profound advices for him. Of course the old man had some, he thought to himself. The old man told him to meet him at the Louvre museum at dawn the next morning and that he were to bring a spoon and a bottle of milk.
As peculiar it sounded, he did what the old man told him to do and met him at the front of the Louvre, with the spoon and the milk bottle. The young man asked him what to do, the wise old man replied “fill the spoon with milk and walk through all the hallways and all the gardens of the entire museum, without spilling one single drop of milk”.
Many hours later the young man returned with the spoon, nevertheless, the old man asked him if he had taken the time to look at the Mona Lisa, the Picassos, the Van Goghs and all the happy little children playing in the gardens without a single care in the world. The young man said no and added that he couldn’t because he was to busy focusing on the spoon and not spilling any milk.
The old wise man laughed at him and said “that is the secret to life. To keep focused but also take time to appreciate the wonderful things in this world. Take time to appreciate where you are. Every man dies but not every man lives, so don’t trade the wonders of the world for a spoon full of milk”.
