English is a West Germanic language and orignally spoken in England. English is spoken by almost half of the population in the world. It is official language in United Kingdom, USA, Canada, Australia, the commonwealth Carribean, Ireland, New Zealand, and is second language in Pakistan, India,

South africa and Sri Lanka.

English is international language in communications, science, business, aviation, entertainment, radio and diplomacy. English is spoken everywhere is because of The british Empire.

British Empire was the largest empire in the history, and for a substatial was the global power. It was the first "global power". It was an product of the European age of discovery, which started with expeditions to Spain and Portugalin 15th century. In 1913, it had domination over 458 million people, which was a quarter of world`s population. Because of the spread it was often called" the sun never stes on the British Empire", on that time Britain had colonies everywhere, where on at least one place the sun was always shinig.

As a result, its legacy is widespread, in legal and governmental systems, economic practice, militarily, educational systems, sports (such as cricket, rugby and football), and in the global spread of the English language. During most of the territories of the Empire became independent. Many went on to join the Commonwealth of Nations, a free association of independent states.

The Commonwealth of nation is  a voluntary association of 53 independent sovereign states, all of which are former British colonies, and Britain. Commonwealth was earlier known as British Commonwealth. The Commonwealth's membership includes both republics and monarchies. Head of the commonwealth is Queen Elizabeth II, secretary general is Don McKinnon.

The Commonwealth is an international organization through which countries with different social, political, and economic backgrounds collaborate within a framework of common value and goals. These inclued democracy, human rights, good governance, the rule of law, individual liberty, egalitarianism, free trade, multilateralism, and world peace.

Every four years the commonwaelth members celebrate the commonwealth games. Even if perfoming vastley different function, the commonwealth is successed by the British Empire. Commonwealth countries share many links outside government, notably for sport, culture, education and charity.

Over 380 million people speak English. English is the third largest language by native speaker after Mandarin chinese and Spanish. when we mix native and non native-speakers it is most commonly spoken language in the world.

English is called "global language" it is because it is widely spoken. English is not the official language, but taught as the socound language. English is official language of the European union, United Nation as well as most international organization including International Olympic Committee.

Many books, magazines, newspapers are written in English. In 1997, Science Citation index reportet that 95% of its articles were written in English.

English is a global language. You can use it everywhere. In 2002, between 1.2 and 1.5 billion was able to speak English. Now, I guess nearly half of the population can speak English.

75 per cent, of the world`s faxes and letters and over 60 per cent of phone calls are in English. Some people say that English is easy language to learn, but some people may not agree, some people that it is rich in vocabulary, and it is widespred. English became spread by the British Empire. By the 19th century, Britain had the world`s largest military power. The Pilgrim Fathers saild from England to America, by taking with them. In the time of waves of immigration to America, many English spoken people went to America. Then English went into Carribean and over to Canada.

English is now widely spoken in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, India, The Pacific and in South-East Asia. The British Empire do not exist, but English is still spoken. It is because of the economic power that keeps it at the top. The British Empire has sent English everywhere, but it was American super-power that has kept it. English has also borrowed and given many words from other languages.
