Australia

Australia is the world’s sixst biggest contry in areal, and lays in the continent Oceania. The capital is Canberra It has the ocean all around the contry, but it is not so much rivers and lakes. Also, it is not so much rain, and very high heat. It rains as much in Australia on one year, as it rains in Norway, in one day. Because of the big heat, and little rain, it gets very dry. Therefore it very often starts fires in the forest, and around Sydney. They have often problems with stopping the fires, and sometimes they have to let the forest burn until it stops.

The country has a population about 20 million people. Almost 70% of the population lives in the 8. Biggest cities in Australia. The remaining populating lives in places they calls “the outback”. The outback is a dry and desolate place, in middle off Australia. That is where most of the species lives. Since the land connection broke for million years ago, the animals and plant have developed on a very special way, unlike all the other animals and plants on earth. The most known animals in Australia is Kangaroo, koala and dingo.

The climate, landscape and nature varies. At the coast is it lush, and of Corse a lot of water. But in the middle of Australia is it desert.

You may think this sound weird, but the queen of Australia is Queen Elisabeth the second. The government is monarchy, and they have Julia Gillard as prime minister. The reason why Queen Elisabeth is the queen over Australia is because the brittish captain James cook, came there in 1770. They got the idea to send brittish prisoners there, so the English prisons not got crowded. Over a period of 100 years, they sent 160 000 criminal prisoners to Australia.

Australia has actually no official language, but since English is so much spoken, they speak most English. Australian English is a major variety of the language with a distinctive accent and lexicon. But they also speak many other languages. 79 per cent speak English, and the remaining speaks Italian (1.6) Greek (1.3) and Contonese (1.2)

Ayers Rock, or the original name; Ululu is a large red sandstone rock formation in the southern part of the northern territory. It is 348 m high, 3,6 kilometer long and 2,4 km wide. Uluru is notable for appearing to change colour at different times of the day and year, most notably glowing red at dawn and sunset. Although rainfall is uncommon in this semiarid area, during wet periods the rock acquires a silvery-grey colour, with streaks of black algae forming on the areas that serve as channels for water flow. It is many trails around Ululu, but the best is to go with a guide-group. Many holy places in Ululu is blocked, and it is punishable to go there.

Unlike Norway, Australia have summer at Christmas, and winter when we have summer. But when it’s also warm at winter. So when Norwegians sits around the Christmas tree, with fire in the fireplace, and snow outside, will the Australians sit at the beach.

The climate, nature, animals, landscapes, language, architecture and food in Australia, is very different from in Norway. They have extremely warm temperature, English, pluss many other languages, animals, plants and trees unlike what we have in Norway. We have cold winters, and hot summers, Norweagian as official language, mooses, squirrels, and lynxes.

With all this differentes, why is Norway and Australia ranged as the best, and second best place on the earth to live? How can it be, that to completely different countries, who almost not have anything in common, are about as good to live in? The schools are different, Australia have more than four times as high population, lifestyle, behavior and maners are different… its hard to find something who is alike. But yeah! I actually found one thing, both Australia and Norway have constitutional monarchy! Anyway, both Norway and Australia has really high living standars and human development, and except from the fires in Australia, is they the safes places to live. So even with so many differentes, they have all the similarities that matters.
