America is a true mixture of people from all parts of the world. It’s often called the salad bowl or the melting pot. There are many different cultures and languages, so it’s hard to believe that the culture differences won’t make any problems. Not to mention that above half of the population speaks Spanish. I think that they automatically get into each place of the society. Rich and poor, black and white. Who are the real Americans?

The country of opportunities, where all dreams come true is about to die. At least it’s just half the truth. The American Dream is just for the people that are white or is in the money. In the big cities thousands of people lives below the poverty line and many turns to drugs to cure their problems.

Together with the drug problem comes increased criminality. People don’t walk out alone at night because it’s not safe. The conditions in Norway are not that terrible, but if the development continues I don’t dear to think about what may turn out.

But is it that the Americans are so nationalistic and proud that they just aren’t ready to face their problems, or have they been blinded so long that it’s to late? Are they driving on the road to destruction so fast that they aren’t able call a halt?

As they say in the familiar pledge “one nation under God indivisible, with liberty and justice for all” it hafts to be just a wish, because I don’t think it’s the same liberty and justice for all. That’s since various living standards are affective to their social class. There is big difference between being rich or poor. Particularly if you’re black

The Americans loves their country and their flag above everything. They talk about God in every connection, even on their money it stands “in God we trust”. I think they are using all the talk about God and liberty and justice for all, only to make people as nationalistic as possible, and to make them feel that they all have something in common. Worst of all, it seems to be working. If they believe in their country and what it stands for, it doesn’t matter if it’s true or not. The result is hardworking people who are willing to do whatever it takes to protect their “safe” community.

If we compare the Norwegian society with the American one, we will find many similarities. But the main difference may be that the Americans like minding their own business and take care of their own problems within the country (we don’t do any favors, and we don’t expect any). But I think we are doing too much outside our country, instead solving our own problems. The American society is about twenty years in head of us. At least in crime and gangs. So if we are smart we take a closer look on the evolution in USA, and learn. It’s not to late.

I can’t judge what’s wrong or right, but one thing is for shore, the future can.
